Role of secondary metabolites and medicinal plants tested for healing of gastric ulcer – A review

Abstract: Peptic ulcer is a very common and painful disease now days. A plenty of treatment options are available but they have certain kinds of disadvantages and to overcome the problem the world is trying to explore more safe healing options such as herbal therapies. The present review work is an effort to gather the explored medicinal plants tested against ulcer and to identify the secondary metabolites which show curing effects against peptic ulcer, it was found that tannins, flavonoids and essential oils are more effective agents to care for peptic ulcer.
