Stress among dental students in a private dental college.

Abstract: Stress is psychologically debilitating and can have a deleterious effect on the academic performance. Dentistry has been widely acknowledged as being associated with high levels of stress. To find out the perceived sources of stress among dental students. 75 students, (15 from each year of study). A closed ended ten item questionnaire was used. Statistical analysis was done using Kruskal Wallis and Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test. Final years had high perceived level of stress. Females had more stress than males. Educational institutions and bodies governing the curriculum should try to reform the dental curriculum, to make it less taxing.
