This paper discusses the characteristics of “Grimoire of Ashes”, a short story Driven 3rd person Action RPG
which aims to discover more about games as an art medium and their impact on people. The game follows a
modified bottlenecking module used to neatly stack the story events one by one in order to allow for buildup
for the game’s climax. Through this short experience, by combining engaging gameplay along with gripping
storytelling techniques, the game seeks to impact different players in different ways by shaping their own
unique struggle through multiple different types of choices they will have to make along the way.
