Systemic cytokine production in patients with bronchial asthma depending on the clinical-pathogenetic phenotype of the disease

Author: KH.I. TURDIBEKOV, R. KH. KHOLLIEV, SH.KH. ZIYADULLAEV
Abstract: 83 patients with bronchial asthma (BA) were examined. Among them, 31 patients with allergic BA (37%), 24 patients with non-allergic AD (NBA) (29%) and 28 patients with mixed BA (MBA) (34%). In 17% of patients, steroid dependence was established. Hereditary burden of allergic diseases was observed in 51 patients (61.4%). Determination of total IgE in blood serum was carried out by the ELISA method using a Hema-Media kit, the level of IFN-?, IL-4 in blood serum using test systems for quantitative determination by the method of solid-phase ELISA (Vector-Best CJSC, Russia). The results show a certain dependence of the levels of total IgE, IL-4 and IFN-g in patients with BA with a pathogenetic variant of the disease, the distinctness of which is more pronounced in patients with ABA. In patients with ABA and MBA, a marked inhibition of IFN-? production occurs, while in patients with AD with a predominantly allergic mechanism of the disease, a significant increase in the level of IL-4 is recorded. With family aggregation of cases of the disease among patients with BA, a marked increase in the level of serum IgE is noted. In this case, there is a decrease in the level of IL-4 in the category of patients with identified steroid dependence.
