Papillary Bleeding Index in Public Health Service on Gingival Inflammation

Abstract: Background: The bleeding index is based on an objective diagnosis of inflammatory sign, detect early signs of inflammation, which occur before changes in color, shape and texture. Purpose: this study was to determine the description of gingival inflammation using the Papillary Bleeding Index Method: This study is an observational descriptive with cross sectional design to describe the gingival inflammation disease based on Papillary Bleeding Index. The number of samples obtained through the simple random sampling formula is 100 samples. The study concludes by giving questionnaires to patients about their personal data namely gender, occupation and the patient's last education. Results: The mean score of men was 0.25, the highest average PBI score was achieved at the age of 41-50 years which was 0.28, the highest average PBI score was achieved by respondents in elementary group level of 0.18. Conclusion. The mean PBI score of respondents is related to risk determinant, including age, gender and socioeconomic status.
