Author: DR.SOPHIYA G,, DR.DEEPA GURUNATHAN, DR.MEBIN GEORGE MATHEW
Abstract: The oral hygiene of the child decides the quality of life of an individual. For a better life, oral health of the child is to be maintained, where use of coloured restoration is done as an attempt to develop the interest within the child. This study was undertaken to assess the oral hygiene status of the child after placement of coloured restorative material.: 48 children of age group 3-7 years were included in the study. Group A children were given coloured restorstion and Group B with conventional restoration. Oral hygiene index was evaluvated preoperatively and postooeratively. The children who received coloured restoration had a better maintenance of oral hygiene (pValue-0.000) than the children who got the regular tooth coloured restoration. The multi-coloured restorations are an effective motivational tool for oral hygiene at home. Children take special care of restored tooth and the other tooth surfaces also profit, which ultimately benefits the health of the entire deciduous dentition.
