Abstract: The aim of the present study is to compare the esthetics of natural teeth with single implant supported prosthesis by using the PES(PINK ESTHETIC SCORE) and WES(WHITE ESTHETIC SCORE)index. The study was conducted on the out patients who had received single dental implant restoration at the department of Implantology, Saveetha dental college from the period between January 2018 to January 2020.A total of 15 patients , who had undergone anterior single tooth implant placement and followed delayed loading protocol were included in the study.Following clinical evaluation, the photographs of the patients maxillary anterior teeth were taken. The PES WES index scores were recorded based on the digital photographs taken.Data was analysed using SPSS version 23.0 .T test was done to compare the differences between the groups. There was a statistically significant difference between implant and natural teeth, suggesting that the PES score around natural teeth were higher than implants. ( p value - 0.001) There was a statistically significant difference in the WES scores between the natural teeth and implant crown.( p value- 0.011). When the PES-WES scores between the natural teeth and implant was compared, there was a higher score for the natural teeth than the implant crown and the results were statistically significant ( p value- 0.001). Thus in the present study we can observe that the implant restoration had comparatively lesser esthetic scores when compared with natural teeth. Hence care must be taken during case selection and treatment planning to obtain optimal esthetics at the end of the restoration. Additionally, the need for soft tissue grafting procedures should be considered and performed to add success to the implant restoration. As the esthetic demands of the patients are high these days, it is essential to choose the right materials and techniques to achieve high esthetic and functional success of dental implants.
