Periodontal Disease among Saudi Arabia and South Asian Developing Nations

Abstract: The aim of the study is to analyze the prevalence of periodontal disease among Saudi Arabian and the developing South Asian nations like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, and also aims to support the South Asian governments proceed further to remove the general health and oral health disparities and meet their goals to provide better health care . South Asian population comprises of 24.89% of world population. Periodontal disease is an inflammatory condition which affects 11% population around the globe. Characteristics that are related with certain population like ethnicity, behavioural characteristics and environmental factors may have an effect in causing periodontitis among various population around the globe which varies from country to country and the prevalence of periodontal disease is not as similar with developing and developed countries. Hence, risk factors of periodontal disease among developed countries population are not similar with populations of developing countries. Various studies have been done among the developed countries regarding the periodontal disease and it is time to analyze the status of periodontal condition among Saudi Arabia and developing South Asian nations as the future is in hands of developing countries. This study shed light on periodontal disease prevalence among Saudi Arabia and various South Asian nations and paves way to conduct a study in a vast manner that helps to fill the vacuum and uplifts the periodontal status of each and every individual of a nation who will play a vital role in development of their respective mother land
