Covid-19 Pandemic: Pathological, Socioeconomical and Psychological Impact on Life, and Possibilities of Treatment

Author: NEHA VATS, AMIT JOSHI, SARANJEET KOUR, VIKAS KAUSHIK
Abstract: Life includes biological activity of cells or transmission of biochemical signaling and molecular interactions, but in a broad sense it also includes parameters like sociological, psychological, and economical integration for sustaining over all well-being. In present study we investigated impact of the Covid-19 disease on human life from all such perspectives. To probe in to psychological impact 2088 responses were collected on the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) scale, outcomes indicated that 688(33%) of total participants encountered normal anxiety, 824(39.5%) moderate anxiety, and 368(17.6%) mild anxiety and 208(10%) severe anxiety. Students whose relatives have not got any covid-19 infection were more likely to be at a lower anxiety level (OR = 0.484, 95% CI 0.335– 0.700). Females were also likely to be at a lower anxiety level (OR = 0.648, 95% CI 0.517– 0.812). Students who worry less about academics were more likely to be at a higher anxiety level (OR = 1.567, 95% CI 1.225–2.006). Getting adequate social support, students studying in higher education and living in rural areas of north India remained a non-significant protective predictor for anxiety. In addition to this, having family and friends affected with COVID-19 was found to be a major threat for growing anxiety among learners. Drugs and vaccine repurposing for Covid-19 disease was found to be challenging among researchers. Avoidance of massive gatherings, use of face masks, proper sanitization and promoting social distancing can control its spread; but always requires maximum people participation along with regular physical exercise, yoga, and meditation for mental relaxation during this stressful time span
