Exploring the Role of Plant-Based Compounds by Stimulating Folliculogenesis for Infertility Management

Author: MAGIMAI UPAGARA VALAN LUCAS, KARTHIKEYAN RAMADOSS, ANBAZHAGAN SOCKALINGAM
Abstract: Declining fertility in women occurs as a major result of ovarian dysfunction like defects in folliculogenesis - a process allows for ovulation and the synthesis of the vital sex steroid hormones. Knowledge of folliculogenesis and their impact is important at a time when many women tend to delay pregnancy and childbirth. Female factors alone account for at least 35% of all infertility cases and comprise a wide range of causes affecting ovarian development, maturation of oocytes, and fertilization competence, as well as the potential of a fertilized egg for preimplantation development, implantation, and fetal growth. The initial endowment of follicles (ovarian reserve) determines a woman's reproductive potential and, subsequently, her reproductive lifespan and age of menopause onset (between the ages of 40 and 58). Diminished ovarian reserve, either due to a low number of follicles or a rapid decline in the ovarian follicle pool, is associated with irregular menstruation and follicle exhaustion. Even though the ongoing treatments are well dependent to some degree in females enduring polycystic ovarian issues, various secondary effects are being accounted for to be related to these treatments. Herbal treatment could be an option for polycystic ovarian problems as expecting to re-establish general well-being and prosperity. We present some solid evidence for role of herbal medicine in the treatment of female infertility and listed some Plants rich in polyphenolic compounds (isoflavones and flavonoids) has the ability to interact with FSH to stimulate follicular development and increase ovulation.
