To Study the Effect of Co-Processing Method and Different Process Variables on the Meclizine HCL Fast Dissolving Tablet

Author: UPLOADED BY-ADMIN, RAKESH P. PATEL, MANSI BHAVSAR, ASHOK H. BARIA
Abstract: Co-processing is another way that new excipients are coming to market without undergoing the rigorous safety testing of a completely new chemical. Meclizine HCL (MHCL) is an anti-emetic drug used for management of dyspepsia, heartburn, epigastric pain, nausea, and vomiting. MHCL has bland taste and has the half life of 6 hr and has poor water solubility. The aim of present work was to develop MHCL fast dissolving tablet using co-processing method by evaporation and physical method and to optimize the effect of process parameters like effect of rpm, particle size of excipient and the thickness of the tablet. Tablets prepared with higher concentration of co-process material (7.5%) show better disintegration time, wetting time and dissolution profile after 10 minutes. Stability study of the optimized batch after three month showed no change in in-vitro drug release profile. Process parameters, like thickness, excipients size and rpm during co-processing has great influence on performance of the fast dissolving tablets.
