Preparation and determination of some nanomaterial and their use in the development of filters to purify the air to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection

Author: LIQAA.H.ALWAN , EMAN THIAB AL SAMARRAI, AHMED T. EACEEN, MARWA R. ABDELRAZAK
Abstract: In this study, It was prepared carbon nanoparticles and silver nanoparticles by employing green chemistry, which is an Environmental friendly method, and is cheaper than other methods used, using natural plant materials and extracts. The carbon nanoparticles were prepared from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree, while the silver nano was prepared from the lemon leaves, and both the nanomaterial prepared were diagnosed by various techniques, such as AFM, FT-IR, TEM, and EDX. The surface area of the prepared carbon was also diagnosed using the (BET) method, where it was found that the surface area is (190m2/ g) and the pore diameter rate is (15.80nm), in addition to calculating the surface area according to Langmuir's theory and was equal to 336.91 m2/ g compared to the surface area of activated universal charcoal. Which is equal to 365.2m2/ g, and studied some of the physical and adsorption specifications of the prepared nanocarbons, as it found that the humidity ratio is 8.5%, the ash is 2.2% and the density is 0.42 g / cm3, all these characteristics made the prepared nanocarbon possessing the characteristics and features that are comparable to the global activated carbon, which can be used in many industrial and medical applications. The nano-silver was loaded onto the surface of the prepared nano-carbon, and used to make simple filters to purify the air because of its great ability to adsorb pollutants and toxic gases due to the large surface area and the size of the pores on the surface of the prepared nano-carbon in addition to the ability of nano-silver to eliminate bacteria and germs as a Sterile substance.
