Perceptions Of Oral Hygiene Status Of Government And Private School Children Among Pre-Clinical Dental Students

Author: B.DEVIKA , DHANRAJ GANAPATHY, KEERTHI SASHANKA
Abstract: Oral Hygiene is the practice of keeping one’s mouth clean and free of diseases and other problems by regular brushing of the teeth. There is also a body of evidence showing that poor oral hygiene is associated with low socio-economic status or deprivation. Social disadvantage causes health disadvantage. A self administrated questionnaire was prepared and circulated through online surveys. It was given to 151 pre-clinical dental students. The response from the questionnaire was tabulated and statistically analysed. It is concluded from the above survey, that both government and private school students have better awareness about oral hygiene and oral hygiene practices may be less in government institution students due to low exposure to the health and dental camps. The aim of this study is to know the perceptions of oral hygiene status of government and private schools children among preclinical dental students.
Keyword: oral hygiene, government school students, private school students.
